JH Energy Releases 2024 Corporate Sustainability Report

September 24, 2024 JH Energy is proud to announce the release of its 2024 Corporate Sustainability Report. This marks the company's third public report, providing a detailed update on JH Energy's sustainability achievements, investments, and ongoing environmental, social, and governance (ESG) initiatives. The report aligns with the recommendations from the Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB) for the Oil & Gas Exploration and Production industry. “Our dedication to responsible energy operations is stronger than ever,” said CEO Joe Zhang. “This report highlights our key milestones, investments, and progress toward sustainability. Our team remains focused on improving environmental performance, prioritizing employee safety, and ensuring our company remains competitive in the energy sector. This report reflects the strides we made in 2023 and outlines where we aim to grow in the future.” 

2023 Sustainability Highlights:

• Zero employee injuries and motor vehicle incidents: Achieved for the third consecutive year, demonstrating JH Energy’s commitment to safety.
• Record low spill volume: A significant reduction in operational spills.
• Produced water recycling: JH Energy’s four water recycling facilities continued to conserve fresh water while lowering costs. Since 2017, the program has saved over 6 billion gallons of water, with 99% of water used in completion operations being recycled in 2024.
• CO₂ reduction: JH Energy eliminated over 365 thousand metric tons of CO₂e through investments in emissions-reducing infrastructure, such as water and electrical systems and dual-fuel engines in completions operations.
• Leak Detection and Repair: The company increased its leak detection surveys by 77% compared to 2022, further minimizing environmental risks.
• Sustainability-linked compensation: 45% of employee variable compensation remains tied to sustainability performance for the second consecutive year.

JH Energy is committed to its 2022 Sustainability Goals, which include reducing Scope 1 GHG intensity, minimizing frac fleet fuel consumption, and expanding recycled water use. These goals have driven improvements across the company’s operations, although challenges, such as third-party midstream gas gathering capacity, have presented hurdles in minimizing flaring.
